Hi guys,
I've been winter fishing for catfish for many years now on the head waters of the New River. I'm trying a new thing for cut bait thats working very, very, well. We have a very large population of yellow catfish that we call mud heads here. I'm catching a couple of hundred pounds of the mud heads a night on throw lines baited with menhayden cut bait. Is anyone else ever tried this, or am I the only one to try this...................It works GREAT!.................... Most of my fish are between 2 and 5 lbs, but I'm getting several....................10 to 30 pounders...........on a regular basis..........................I've never tried this before, my baits are usually gills, creek chubs, WD 40 and tin foil, or stink bait this time of year. I was low on live bait, and bought some menhayden on line. It came frozen. I've never been fond of frozen bait. It seems to put the cats off the line. However, this thing really, works great for cut bait this time of year! Tell you what, its cheap. 12 to 14 inch fish. shipped whole, cut em with the guts just like you do with your normal bait. The mud heads take em just like your normal cut bait or better..............................Love this stuff!
