Catfish are known scavenger fish that are attracted to any number of baits. The following is a list of common baits known to catch catfish:

Live and cut perch

Live and cut shad

Crawfish

Worms

Shrimp

Chicken liver

Beef Liver

Chicken hearts

Beef heart

Prepared stink baits

Grasshoppers

Ivory soap (yes, this really says ivory soap)

Salt pork

Hot dogs

That Ivory soap thing works good all the time here. I take a block of Ivory soap, cut it in 4 blocks, put it on the hook, then dip the thing in a cheese type of stink bait. I use limburger cheese mixed with old oil out of my deep fryer. This works well with channel cats...............not so good for blues or mudheads..........................works best in the hot summer months.

You learn something new everyday......I'll be trying the ivory soap next. Caught me a 22 lb flathead Sunday. :D
