Congratulations to Chan Puryear and Landon Siggers
for a top place finish with a Bluecat weighing in
at 33.02 lbs. Even though the weather was hot and
humid, that didn't turn away 75 boats from fishing
the tournament.
At the launch, 62 boats headed toward the main lake,
while 13 others decided the take their chance up the
Dan and Staunton Rivers. We thank all our sponsors
and staff for making all catfishing events possible.
Take a kid fishing!
Enjoy!

4.Catfish Tips
After years of fishing for catfish, anglers have tried
various baits to land large and small catfish species.
One in particular is a chicken breast soaked in garlic.
The senior anglers will tell you that chicken parts,
especially livers are one of the most effective choice
of baits for any size catfish. However, a juicy breast
makes for a hefty meal among Blues and Channels.
While Flatheads prefer live bait over any other, a hunk
of breast nearby will make any Flathead investigate it.
The aroma of garlic, combined with the meaty texture of
chicken, offers an easy opportunity for the catfish to
feed any time during the day or night.
The struggle to locate food has now become easier for
catfish in the area to pickup on the smell of chicken,
but enhanced wit flavor. The best technique is to soak
several pieces of split chicken breast in a container
with crushed or minced garlic overnight before fishing.
This will give the breast time to collect the garlic
smell and give the breast a tenderness appeal.
This will stay on the hook better than livers and cover
larger size hooks. This method can be effective by both
suspended or bottom fishing.
