Questions about food plots

Postby jelo45110 » Sun Jul 19, 2009 9:35 pm

I have lived and hunted my whole life in the west. Most of my hunting has been in the rain forests of Western Washington. The only other place I have hunted has been in Southern Idaho. Public land is all I have ever hunted. I have never planted food plots or hunte3d over them. I am curious if anyone in the western states has planted food plots to draw deer to private land, or to supplement their nutrition? Do the seed blends currently on the market that are aimed at the south and mid west work well out west?

I don't actually live out west but have learned alot about food plots from trial and error. I can tell you the first step i would take is to call your extension office and ask them what they suggest. Also i would try call your local Dept of Natural resources and i bet they can hook you up with one of there biologst that can give an answer as to what to plant and when.
